#29 Understanding how common brain injuries are w/Dr. Sue Wolf

Did you know brain injuries account for most cases of ADHD, depression, anxiety, anger, cognitive issues, and other issues traditionally labeled as "mental health issues?"

In this episode, Fallon is joined by a very special guest who is a brain health injury recovery expert.

Dr. Sue Wolf is the Executive Director and Lead Consultant at Empowerment Research, LLC with offices in both Mesa and Payson, Arizona. She is a Master’s-prepared school psychologist, holds her doctorate in educational psychology and has completed two post-doctoral certificates, one in adult education and another in participatory community development. Her corporation contracts with federal, state, municipal and tribal agencies as well as NGOs in communities offering professional development training, program evaluation services, and technical assistance in the fields of public health and education.

Her research interests focus on the impacts of traumatic/catastrophic injuries and utilization of asset-based approaches to empowering survivors and families while supporting systems’ change within service delivery organizations throughout the continuum of care. She continues to be the State’s contracted provider for training and technical assistance for the AZ Department of Education on Traumatic Brain Injury while serving as full-time faculty in the Psychology Department at Diné College, the Nation’s first tribal college near Four Corners. She will share her professional insights gained over her 30+-year career during her workshop session, being both the parent of a now-adult son with pediatric ABI as well as a survivor of severe brain injury herself in 2011.
